Hibari Kyouya
For
31_days. January 25th. I like your silence; the more it shows off your wonder
Note: Interlude after chapter 175. Also, HibarixNamimori OTP.
Hibari finds it easier to sleep in the daytime than at night, favouring the warmth of the sun than the cool embrace of the night breeze. Back then, in Namimori Junior High, he would take quick naps on the leather couch in the disciplinary committee room, secure in the knowledge that he would be undisturbed, especially with his reputation and Tetsuya standing guard outside.
Somehow, the world seemed a little quieter in the daytime. Even if there was noise, made up of girlish chatter and shouts and the occasional destruction of property ever since a certain Italian transferred to the school, such commotion was familiar. The voices of Namimori, if he was feeling particularly poetic.
Of course, he's no longer in Namimori Junior High now, and he doesn't have the luxury to indulge in his little habits anymore. Not that he could, because the base is set in a sensible location, far from the center of his town, where his school still sits. He makes do with his gardens, fills them with birdsong and the rhythmic taps of the souzu, but it's just not the same.
Tetsuya suggests, once, to pay a visit to the school he is now a proper benefactor of, but Hibari dismisses the idea, citing that only herbivores cling to memories. All of Namimori is his, Hibari declares, and he is happy regardless of the distance from her heart. Tetsuya, wisely enough, does not bring up the matter again.
That dawn, Hibari has no fear in facing down the soldiers of Millefiore. They are, after all, on Namimori ground, and she is his witness. Though his town has been silenced due to the war, Hibari is certain that Sawada Tsunayoshi will restore her, and Hibari will do all he can to ensure that that will happen. Even now the injustice fuels his rage, pushing him past his limits again and again, past blurred, bloody vision and broken bone and endless machines.
There is only one thing that keeps him going. Namimori will not let him die on her soil. This Hibari knows.
