I already played through the Japanese version, but I won't be able to play the English version until the end of April. Mostly because of semester exams. I'm quite interested to see how Axel and Roxas actually interact in English, since from the Japanese version you really get the sense of isolation and peevish stubborn-ness from Roxas.
I think you still get the 'monotone' feelings from Roxas and Axel is certainly more emotional in general. But yeah, it's certainly a 'one sided' affecion Xd
Mmm, I like your impression of Roxas, but he doesn't seem quite so monotonous in the English version--but then, I don't know what he's like in the Japanese one. (And, as much as I hate to admit it, Jesse McCartney doesn't do too bad of a job. He rather fits Roxas, at least at certain points.)
And their interaction is so wonderful, fitting their characters especially well--Roxas: stubborn, hard to get through to, and defiant in his own silent way, and Axel: openly defiant, obviously insecure about some things, and, of course, an almost constant feeling of desperateness when it comes to dealing with Roxas. It's quite adorable. :)
Gah. I rambled. Apologize. I did enjoy it, though! Thanks for sharing. I suppose I'm kind of in a reviewing mood. And a Kingdom Hearts mood, after playing the game for almost four days straight just to beat it...
Oh, and I just remembered--he does appear to be monotone, sullen, and inexpressive in the flashback of Axel trying to persuade him not to leave The World that Never Was. Or whatever it's called....

I too played through the Japanese version first, and have only now started on the English one.

But if you're going off that--you pulled it off nicely, for only having a miniscule bit to go off of.
