I have one important question in regards to Spike, chippage, and the consumption of blood:

Why not just eat other vampires? They've got human blood in them and they don't set of the chip. It wouldn't be warm ... but there's the whole new aspect of evil that could be explored there.

Another author somewhere attempted to tackle that question. His theory was that vampire blood doesn't have hemoglobin and actively destroys it, hence the need for human blood periodically.

So unless you caught someone who just got a fresh kill, sucking vampire blood wouldn't help a vampire much at all. Much more efficient to go straight to the source.
