Donnie Darko...WOW

So, I'm about 7 years late, but I finally saw Donnie Darko a couple of nights ago.  I gotta say, I was quite pleasantly surprised.  I was also quite unpleasantly frightened, but I'll get to that later...

The first time I watched Donnie Darko was simply because a friend of mine mentioned he hated the movie. I was in one of those defiant moods so I watched it - and loved it. I don't know why he doesn't like it, but he does not - in that getting violent kind of way if you mention it's coming on TV. Last year I sent him the DVD for his birthday. We haven't spoken since.

I'm thinking this movie is one of those that can easily be either liked or hated passionately, so I can't say I'm surprised that your friend dislikes it so violently. Hahaha, you really did that? Oh my, I'm sure that was appreciated!

Luckily, I found a bunch of copies on sale for $3 and bought several. He threw it away - so I sent another at Christmas, and his next birthday. I'll do it every year until I run out.

I love that you took the time to talk about why you liked it - to me that's much more important than whether you liked it or not. Donnie Darko's my favourite movie ever because of everything you've just explained. Honestly, I'm trying to think of something to add to it and nada. :)
