I've been meaning to post this for a long, long time now, but I really didn't have the camera to do it justice until Christmas. I suppose the other reason for this just now getting done is that I was distracted by life in general. Either way, I finally did get around to it, and here it is!
My Metallicar
Last August, after I had been into Supernatural for about four months, I saw a post on the
supernatural_tv community about 1:18 scale diecast model '67 Impalas, and I quickly decided that I should buy one for myself. It was my birthday gift to me. : )
So, I got one from this website:
http://www.diecastmusclecars.com/impalass.htm $49.95 was a bit pricey, but it's worth it, certainly. There is SO much detail involved, it's the perfect size, and c'mon, the wheels even turn when you turn the steering wheel!
Anyway, so the night I ordered it I was still back home in Dallas for the summer, and my wonderful little brother Kirby says, "Ooh, you should pimp out the trunk with a bunch of weapons and stuff like in the show!" I laughed, because that seemed ridiculous (albeit potentially awesome), but after talking to Joya (
potthead), who really thought that I should do it too, I started thinking about it more seriously. Aaand I'm pretty sure that by the next week I was buying miniatures from eBay, and it just escalated from there.
So, after about of month of online scavenging/purchasing, I had my trunk arsenal, complete with:
Salt
Matches
Shovel
Gasoline (Jerrycan)
Flashlight
An axe, a slegehammer and other tools (they came in a set; I just wanted the axe)
About 7 guns (including a sawed-off shotgun and The Colt)
Machete
Knife
Grenades (these came with the gun/knife set which I purchased to get my sawed-off; John had them in his storage lock-up, so I figured they could come along too)
Honestly, I don't think I'm done collecting stuff for my trunk yet, but I definitely don't have the funds to be looking right now (I've been spending waaay to much on the DFW convention and LPs), so it's going to stay like this for a while. There is one more thing that I really wish I had, but I'm just not ready to spend $36 on a miniature journal, even though I'm positive that it's the closest thing to John's journal available. That's almost as much as I paid for the car! If you happen to want to see it, though, it's here, about 4/5 of the way down the page, called a "Leather bound log book":
http://www.spminiatures.com/western.html Oh, I almost forgot the most important part! This guy on eBay sells custom-made license plates for model cars, any state (even older plates), so I ordered KAZ 2Y5 plates for my car. They look amazing, exactly like the Impala's old plates, and are probably my favorite thing about my Metallicar!
Well, the main reason for posting this was to let everyone actually see the car, so I'm giving a link to my Metallicar photobucket album. There are a few comments under some of the pictures which you are welcome to read if you're curious. Also, I recommend looking in the links view, because even though grid view or slideshow give you the general idea, the pictures are actually very good quality, so viewing them in full size looks a lot better (especially with the miniatures):
http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd16/sure_promise/Metallicar/ If looking at these pictures makes you seriously want a Metallicar for yourself, first, I hope you get one, and second, I'm sorry, because it really does get pretty costly. However, I couldn't be happier with mine, and I've never once regretted it, and I'm sure that if you do get one, you'll feel the same way. (Also, if you do get one and need any help finding trunk items or have any other questions, I'd be happy to assist.)
Thanks for looking, and I hope you take time to let me know what you think! :D
