This is Toki Wartooth. He has a fu manchu (named after this dude). And not a biker or horseshoe mustache - like, say, what Hulk Hogan has
( Read more... )
I think part of it has to do with the fact that the animators may have gotten lazy in the second season.
In the first season finale, when Toki is upside down in the Pentapod, he is shown as having a true fu manchu. In the second season finale, when he is slung over Nathan's back, he doesn't.
I doubt Toki changed the style of his facial hair, really.
*puts rantypants on* Another thing that kind of gets my goat are fanartists who place the beginning of said fu halfway up on the cheek or something. It's a pretty far cry from the corners of the upper lip. Yeesh.

pfft, what an appropriate icon...
halfway up the cheek? *blink* that's not even... well, it's possible, but that's not really a mustache anymore. then again, maybe that could be excused by style/artistic license?
(i kinda want to ask for an example; but i'm the one who said it was bad form to criticize specific pieces of fic/fanart in a public forum. feel free to link me to something on aim, though, if you feel like it?)
and, yeah... i was actually looking for a canon image of upside down toki to prove my point. but i couldn't remember a specific scene, so didn't know what to search for.
i do recall seeing his mustache not move when it should have, in canon. but they're lazy like that about a lot of things. you can still tell it hangs a little bit past his jaw, though -- which clearly makes it a fu manchu.
those are some mighty stylish rantypants you have, m'dear.
and just to be annoying out of curiosity, i have to ask: did you see the two truths and a lie thing? i feel weird revealing the answers, when only a couple people have had a chance to guess...

My schedule has been so fucked lately it's a wonder I get any sleep. I will definitely try because I really like art spam.
Spock is my favorite. There's a pic out there with Quinto, Nimoy, and kid!Spock all together in one place. I was sure that if that were ever to happen the universe would have collapsed in on itself because of awesome overload, but I was incorrect.
