Graduation was tiring. A little boring, but not brain frying. I'm trying to get a routine of writing down. Working on poetry and the play I started last year. I've found slow as I am, a little every day really can add up!

Mrs. Sanderson counted the heads of the children on the playground.
Everything seemed to be in order.
But then the Ross child ran into the building.
And then Lana Lang, bless her tragic soul, had puffed up like an angry rodent trying to stuff it’s mouth in being ready for the coming winter.
“Everyone, be calm. Lana is fine. She just had a bee sting.”
But two minutes after the incident, the class had forgotten about her.
Gifts were given, and giggling boys and girls ran about the picnic tables. All manner of treats and cookies and cards of every shade of red imaginable were being passed around.
Only two girls dressed in black, with black shades, stood apart from the melee.
Then Mrs. Sanderson noticed Kent and Luthor were not among the chattering children.
She started to look for them.
Soon she came close to the corner that held an oak tree, but was hindered from her search by one of the girls in black.
“Ma’m, Ma’m!” The girl she believed to be Mercy ran up to her.
“What is it?”
“Billy is stealing other peoples Valentine candy and eating it!” She pointed across the playground.
Mrs. Sanderson sighed.
“Thank you, ah, Mercy.”
“No prob.”
Mrs. Sanderson hurried over to the boy stuffing giant chocolate marshmellows into his mouth, doing another good impression of Lana’s face.
“They do not pay me enough for this.”

“That was a close one.” Hope praised her.
“Yeah, I’m glad I saved that info for a distraction.” Mercy smirked.
“This is cooler than playing bodyguard.”
“That’s ‘cause now we’re bodyguards for real.” Mercy tightened her ponytail to keep it out of the way.
“When do we get to have our ‘tines?”
“Don’t worry, cutie. Let’s let the boss have his fun first.”
Hope did a great pout even with the too big sunglasses.
Mercy took her hand for a moment.
“After school I’m all yours.”

After the long kiss, Lex pulled back.
I could do that all afternoon. But Clark should get his present.
Lex tugged on his mini tie clip, still more than a little apprehensive about his gift.
Clark just bounced a little and ate one of the gummi hearts.
Lex took out the jewelry box from his pocket.
“I don’t have a poem.”
He opened it.
“I’m going to conquer the world someday. I love you. And I want you to be there, too.”
Lex and his mother had gone to the jewelers to get the necklaces. They were small gold chains, but instead of a possessive tag, the design had been changed to a halved heart. Both gold charms had the heart that was originally whole. Now they were halved into two separate parts, each that one of the boys could wear. To put them together would show that they connected.
“Lex! You gave me your heart, too!”
Clark launched in for another kiss.
But Lex stopped him.
“There’s engraving on them, too. Now I’ll always carry your name with me, and you’ll carry mine.”
Clark waited until Lex put the necklace over his head. The heart dangled low and out of sight, under his shirt. But as long as Lex knew it would be there, that was okay.
“My turn.”
Clark put his name necklace over Lex’s head. He took off the tie clip, as if not liking how tight it had to be on the other boy’s neck. He slipped the charm under the collar of the shirt.
“Thank you, Lex. I wanna be with you all the time. Even doing yucky math.”
Lex started in for another kiss, but Clark stopped him.
“Lex, can I ask a question?”
“All right.”
“Will you be my boyfriend?” Clark managed to blurt.
Lex laughed.
“Clark, I just asked you to be my boyfriend.”
“Na, ah.”
“Yes, I did.”
“No, I asked first.”
“I am inclined to disagree. I made the declaration first.”
“Nope. You shared your heart, but you didn’t ask.”
“You could have said no.”
“But I asked proper. You should always ask proper.”
Platitudes are the bane of humanity and non-kissed boyfriends everywhere.
“So, will you be my boyfriend?”
“If you’ll be mine.” Lex bit out.
“Yabadaba-doo!” And Clark took what turned out to be a handful of multi-color glitter and sprinkled it up over both their heads.
“Can we get to the kiss-”
And Lex never finished his sentence, because his lips were otherwise occupied.
He’d mention his other gift later.
Mmm...much later.
