things that bother me for no good reason.

You know how new editions of books will be published, and the cover art may be changed? Am I the only one who always feels a little bit bummed when that happens? For me it's like, if I buy a book and like it, the cover art for that particular edition feels like "my" book in a way, and everything else just looks odd in comparison ( Read more... )

...I was just about to mention how I was pissed when they changed the covers for The Princess Diaries but then decided I wasn't going to because I didn't think anyone else read those books & didn't want to embarrass myself.
BUT I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO READ THEM & WAS ALSO PISSED WHEN THE COVERS MAGICALLY MORPHED INTO SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE TIARAS.

But seriously....I feel the same way.
Some covers are just classic and when I see a new edition with a new picture or something on it part of me dies.
Yes, that sounds extreme but I believe it to be true.
CAN WE JUST LEAVE THINGS THE WAY THEY WERE INTENDED?!
Ahem.

I have all of the Princess Diaries books except the first one in hardcover. I was so annoyed when they changed the covers the first time, UGH.

YES. Like I know it's a good thing when they reissue books (for the author/publisher anyway) but daaaaamn. They just did it to Meg Cabot's 1-800-WhereRU? series, too, and I was super bummed. :/

Aha, I would get ridiculously upset about it and obsessively hunt for original copies. I have three copies of one book because I kept trying to get the right cover. (My sister's boyfriend borrowed the original copy with the right cover and left it at a coffee shop somewhere.)

I feel this way very, very strongly about the Sweet Valley University books -- in fact, so strongly that I will not even entertain the idea of buying the books that came out after the switch from these models to the Daniels twins. Ugh.

I feel like that about the redesigned BSC books. And when I read Fearless, I hated it when they went from the cool, white covers to the tacky-as-hell orange ones. Plus, the paperback size went up when they changed the colors and they didn't match the rest of my books.
