It's just occurred to me how similar The Phantom from Phantom of the Opera (mostly focusing on movie!Phantom) and Edward from Twilight are. They are both obsessed with one girl, except in Christine's case she has redeeming qualities as a character (at least Sarah Brightman Christine and book Christine-- I'm reading PotO right now and that ( Read more... )

As a toddler I danced around the living room to the soundtrack to Phantom pretending to be Christine (even though I kind of liked Meg's singing parts more). True story. And now I cannot unsee the similarities! Gah!

Except Christine is a smart enough girl to fall for the pretty knight in shining armour (OMG movie!Raoul is NITE OWL II in Watchmen!!! Lol!!!!). Also, Edward would probably rather kill Bella than let her go be happy with someone else.

That and... well... Erik builds awesome amazing death traps! So he's therefore a really neat villain.

as much as im obsesssssed with gerard butler, i think in phantom of the opera he was his least good looking. and i know he was supposed to be,but that's not what i mean. i think comparing the two actors in these movies... rpatz wins.

I didn't see the Oscars :-(. I saw some photos of dresses but nothing of RPatz. And Gerard Butler, even as The Phantom, still makes me squee way more than RPatz so he wins for me. To each her own, right? :-) I miss you! We are hanging out once I'm back and we can do a drinking game movie night sleepover thing with a bunch of people. Sarah's our last to be legal, so we're all good as of August 3rd, right?
