Another thing I'd write about: I'd write about voyeurism, wanting to watch even when we know it betrays the shameful thrill we get at the thought of something horrible. Finally got to watch this last night. The theme that kept jumping out at me was people sleeping in the "wrong" place, from Roger in his office to Gale in Joan's bed and Dawn on Peggy's couch and of course Sally under the settee. So far this year, all Don's time in bed has been sort of literally "crashing" -- he goes to bed when he's fed up. It's a place to hide, but it isn't a refuge. He has a lot of unhappy moments there, and then youthful Megan comes twittering in with the sunlight wanting him to get up and do stuff or eat stuff or generally stop being a crabby old man ( ... )
