First of all, a big welcome to katon who I've added to my friends list! Now you get to catch a glimpse of the world of the man behind the server of The Carpainter Network. :P

Hey man, you gave me the best favor anyone could give when you decided to let me host TCN. I've met quite a few great people I never would have otherwise thanks to that.
By the way, are you going to keep that site alive? I'd hate to see it go under due to neglect, especially since I'm the one hosting it.
It's not that I couldn't if I could find the time to do it. But getting accepted would be somewhat of a challenge since I know these things have more to do with who I know than what I know (the latter of which my first degree essentially covers; I could give a lot of pointers to all the DJs if they were willing to listen to me).
As for the hardware problem, I have high hopes that this PowerMac G3 doesn't have the same problem and that I'll be able to use the audio hardware in Darwin if not in NetBSD.
Honestly, I don't know if it's whether the DJs would listen or whether they care. I try to be more or less professional, but I also realise it's easier and more fun (for both the listeners as well as me) to just go with things.
As to who you know, you know Randy and he's usually been fairly influential. You also know me and may (not?) know ozwalled. If you do a good demo, I'd say your chances are high, but as you said, you need to want to do it, first.
I know ozwalled somewhat. Unfortunately he's one of the people I want to talk to more often but don't because our schedules are so out-of-sync.
Yes, wanting to do it is probably my biggest obstacle. Actually it's not so much not wanting to do it but doing it for ulterior motives and having time to do it that's holding me back.
