I know it's a story format that the boys (at least usually) get to kill the Big Bad of the season, but Dean finally getting to kill the YED in S2 was so much more than that. It was revenge, pure and simple, and it felt good. And your gif collection portrays that very nicely. :D

For Dean, I guess it was also part of saving Sam. I'm thinking he and Sam both thought that once the YED was dead, Sam would be free from whatever destiny the YED had planned.
