Largely I thought this was a well-done episode with excellent performances, but overall it was too heartbreaking for me to really enjoy watching it, if that makes sense. :( What a bloodbath. I figured we'd lose Rowena this season, but I didn't think it would be so early on. (Jared and Ruth Connell knocked it out of the park, though. I loved their goodbye scene.) Ketch was sad, too, although satisfying; I like that he went out remaining loyal to his friends. Belphegor's death was disappointing to me - I really liked him and thought he had the potential to be interesting.
I loved your screencaps, as always! :D It was nice to review some of the most beautiful shots.
I don't know why, but I needed that shot of his leg and hands :D Oh I think we all needed that. :P <3
Oh my goodness YES, he looked amazing! I loved seeing both of them "naked" (by Winchester standards, heh) with Dean in that close-fitting single layer and Sam with his shirt unbuttoned and forearms showing. :D Ridiculously gorgeous.
Like Sam, I'm heartbroken about Rowena, I didn't expect to lose her so soon, but omg what a beautifully acted scene.
I also understood why Cas had to stop Balthagar, but also Dean's reaction - WHO CARES if Balthagar takes over Hell? Hell needs a King and he'll do for now. And, what Balthagar was planning is actually what Cas did, right? in Season 6?
It is like Cas in season 6, and that's why it does matter that they care if Balthagar takes over hell. Godstiel was pretty much unstoppable, and the same could be true for a newly powered up Balthagar. He could easily wreck havoc on earth, and we don't know that Rowena (or anyone else) could've stopped him. With all that power, he wouldn't be just another king of hell taking over, he's super charged. He could've killed Cas before Cas tried to leave hell, and he could easily go topside and kill the brothers and Rowena.
Oh yes, I get Cas' reasons too and am furious at Dean for not accepting Cas' decision but also understand that Dean would have taken the chance to save everyone for the time-being. When Cas made his decision, he threw away what he thought was their only way to save humanity, since he didn't know Rowena's plan. He would rather have killed everyone now than take the risk of something happening in the future, which in my mind is very strange. It could be he thought they could figure out another way, but "the other way" ended up killing a strong ally. We will never know which was the better choice
( ... )
B wasn't just taking over hell, he'd take over everything. It wasn't just a demon being a demon. With all those souls and ghosts absorbed, it was a demon with the power of a God. Ardat had said "Do you have any idea who he is?" We don't know, but it can't be good.
Cas had seconds to make his decision. He had to weigh the threat that he saw before him, to stop it before it's too late. I'm sure he hoped there would be another way to fix their problem.
Things could have gone better if the plan was not so rushed, they had not trusted B so much and Dean had not pushed Cas away so that Cas had no choice but to make this decision on his own, feeling abandoned and hated by his only family.😭
Yes, they all trusted B, and Dean has distanced himself from Cas. I feel bad for Cas, he's so alone now. I wish he had said goodbye to Sam, who wasn't pushing him away.

Just want to add that Dean looked gorgeous in the Henley at the end - to steal Velma's line, 'oh those shoulders!!'
