There was also a really nice scene in the book in which Claire and Jamie walk together in the sunset on their way to the next inn and talk about Jamie's beatings as a child etc. That scene was beautiful, and THAT is where they should have made up. So I'm not very happy with that either, unfortunately. Jamie in the book was portrayed with a bit more wisdom in that regard. It's too bad.

I really missed that conversation too. I would have preferred that to how they did it in the show. Not only because of the sweetness but because it explains that that was a normal punishment, and how Jamie himself had learned from it growing up. I really wish they'd followed the book on that one.

EXACTLY. Jamie explained the why of it really well in that scene and it helped Claire get to know Jamie better too.

For some reason they are really degrading the characters in the show. Jamie seems less wise, and Colum seems like just a paranoid old man (while he was very intelligent and cunning in the books).

Looking forward to Ep 11 though :)

I miss those scenes where they're really connecting and you understand that she is really falling for him too.

I feel they spent so much time building up stuff before the wedding episode that now they're rushing forward. Hopefully they'll regain their pace.

The whole thing about the Jacobite gold in ep9 didn't quite make sense to me considering how the story progresses in the books. But also the politics in the household isn't what I want to see.
I don't see Colum as paranoid, but short-tempered, and like you said he was much more cunning in the books. The same goes for Dougal really, who comes off as kind of petulant.

It's one of those shows where I'll just have to get used to the changes they've made, and when I re-watch with my friend I can start to let it go.

Ep11 looks promising. :)
