Message from Sera Gamble to Supernatural fans

Nov 05, 2007 21:49

[I contacted Supernatural writer Sera Gamble with some questions about the writer's strike for the Supernatural Underground newsletter, and this was her reply:]

I am so appreciative of the support of our fans; seriously, thank you. You guys are the reason we write the show.

But I am not ready to give interviews (you are not the first to ask). This is partly because I am not a very good spokesperson for the strike. By that I mean that there are more expert people, and people with better information (I am getting all the same updates as everyone else). I support the strike, and I am honoring it; but I don't want to hold forth about it as though I have graduate degree in residuals and new media, and add to the general cacophony. And, most important, I do not want to speak for Eric and Bob, who are calling the shots about what is and isn't happening on our show from now until the end of the strike. I will say that they have both treated me with immense respect and made it clear that they support the personal decisions of every writer on staff. They've been aces.

Hope this makes sense to you. I am of course cool with you letting your readers know I am thinking of them and hope this strike is a short one. You can post this if you like.

Cheers,
Sera

She also listed several places online for information about the strike:

Let me give you a few helpful links:

http://unitedhollywood.com/
wga blog for the strike.

www.deadlinehollywooddaily
the most up-to-date coverage of the negotiations.

www.defamer.com
not as constant in its coverage, but funnier.

www.wga.org
that one's obvious.

I may also eventually write about my experience of the strike on my own blog, www.veryhotjews.com. It'll probably be less fact and more blabby opinion and navel-gazing.
