MOD POST: Three bits of business.

Jun 22, 2007 23:38

Howdy, folks! I'll get straight to the point and say we've got three things to address, so here we go:

1.) NEW SPOILER LABELING POLICY: Someone suggested we start to label the spoilers, and Jen and I talked it over and it sounds like a good idea. So from now on, if you're posting a spoiler, in the subject line of your entry, please specify if you're posting a CASTING spoiler or a PLOT spoiler.

EXAMPLES: A CASTING spoiler would be like telling everyone back before season 2 started that Alona Tal would be guest starring. A PLOT spoiler would be like telling everyone back before season 2 started that a female character named Jo would be a possible love interest and/or companion for Sam and Dean.

We hope this new method of labeling spoilers will help things run a bit smoother. Please note that this does not change the fact that ALL SPOILERS MUST BE PLACED BEHIND A CUT! We welcome the posting of spoilers, but we also would like to continue to respect that not everyone enjoys being spoiled.

2.) CONTENT OF POSTS AT supernatural_tv: This is a discussion community, so we'd just like to reiterate that all posts here must be discussion-worthy. We do welcome opinions of every kind, but many of the posts in response to the new season 3 spoilers have been bordering on rant-worthy instead of discussion-worthy. We try to make sure that doesn't happen too often, but a few of yall brought to our attention that there have been quite a few rant-like posts about the spoilers, and you're right! This community is not the place to rant about the spoilers. You discuss things here. Rant in your own journal. ;)

3.) PERMANENT ACCOUNT: This is what Jen and I are most excited about. I woke up this morning to have Jen capslocking my inbox because supernatural_tv has been upgraded to a permanent account! The craziest thing is whoever upgraded the community did so ANONYMOUSLY. That's $150, folks. Furthermore, we're led to believe the same anonymous person upgraded Jen's account and my account to permanent account status as well, so we'd just like to say it's absolutely nuts someone spent $450 on us and the community and insists on remaining anonymous! We would really love to thank you, and I'm sure the members here would love to show their gratitude as well. Whoever you are, thank you so much for your generosity! It is so appreciated and we hope to do you proud in running this community! And please, if it was you, step forward! It would be really great to have someone to thank directly. :)

The permanent account for supernatural_tv was purchased on the first day permanent accounts were put up for sale, and for this reason, LJ is going to donate $25 of the purchase to one of four charities. Since the community really belongs to everyone here, Jen and I thought we'd put up a poll so the community/majority can decide where supernatural_tv's $25 donation goes.

$25 of the purchase of supernatural_tv's paid account will be donated to one of the following charities:

  • EFF: EFF broke new ground when it was founded in 1990 - well before the Internet was on most people's radar - and continues to confront cutting-edge issues defending free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights today.
  • RAINN: The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline and carries out programs to prevent sexual assault, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.
  • Creative Commons: Balance, compromise, and moderation - once the driving forces of a copyright system that valued innovation and protection equally - have become endangered species. Creative Commons is working to revive this system and build a layer of reasonable, flexible copyright.
  • Witness: An international human rights organization that provides training and support to local groups to use video in their human rights advocacy campaigns. Beyond providing video cameras and editing equipment, WITNESS is committed to facilitating exposure for partners' issues on a global scale.

Pick a favorite? You have until SUNDAY, June 24th, to decide. Let us know your choice in this poll:

Also, one small thing: we changed the community title. Y'know in the userinfo right under where it says "supernatural_tv" you can put two lines of text? supernatural_tv's now looks like this:

Bad ratings don't mean a show stinks.
They just mean you aren't watching.
Cuz you know it's true! :)

And that's all! Thank you for your time, and thanks so much for being such a great community! :D
