Epilogue

Ancient Words - PG-13 to R; The beginning of the story is lighter in violence and plot, but as the story moves along the rating goes up because of several factors. Initially, angst and h/c along with a healthy dose of mild/moderate violence are all you need to worry about. As the story moves along, though, the rape and torture of OC's moves the rating right up there to an R. I don't get off on including lots of details and gore. I try to provide just enough to get my point across; my efforts instead tend to focus on the inner thoughts of the victim or bad guy and the mood of the scene. So while I don't go into too much graphic detail, the acts are there, so the rating has to go up appropriately. As the story goes on, violence towards all characters, including a child, are apparent. Again, I try not to glamorize these acts. Finally, there are a lot of religious references. Don't want to give anything away - but do take that seriously if there is any chance that might bother you.

Initially, I ran each final draft through three separate people to make sure I stayed true to myself here. Sometimes I think writers put too much detail in things better left to the imagination.

Very much like the first fic, I wanted to really examine how true "Good", or faithfulness can counter evil. And I wanted to show the guys' reactions to that. Again we are introduced to Bobby and Annie Carver. Bobby is seven, a savant autistic little guy, and he's been through a lot already. But he's also a special little guy and there's so much more than meets the eye to him *grin*. Annie is my idea of a dream OFC - in that she's a strong female character who furthers the plot without putting any kind of romantic entanglements into play.

This story features a secondary plot that I'm especially fond of: what makes someone strong? Like, truly strong, on the inside. Annie is my vehicle for that. My goal was to show how breaking someone who believes, truly believes, in something, can be an almost impossible thing to do. Because, when you believe in something you always have a bit of hope. In this case it's faith, but I think the same can be said for Sam and Dean - their faith is more in each other (no matter what the show says about Sam), but it's still there, regardless.

I"ll probably add on to this discussion as time goes on. Feel free to direct plot questions (and grammatical errors *snickers*) here and if I can I will try to answer them.

*Grins*
