Japanese Knotweed.

I've just discovered a new plant in the garden, growing very vigorously. Japanese Knotweed. Well, fucknuggets. I'm going to treat it with glyphosate, not a substance I was expecting to be buying but leaving it alone to grow is very much not an option ( Read more... )

Might be worth checking up on the local regulations regarding that weed. It is pretty vicious.

You aren't supposed to put it in compost (for example) even after death.

bastard to get rid of, can't compost it, can't send to landfil, roots go on forever and grow back. it's a right royal pain in the posterior

Yes, that stuff is over towards the "I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure" end of the range of weed tenaciousness. I remember a Gardener's Question Time where the semi-serious answer to a question on how to deal with the stuff was "Move house."
