The Beauty of a Good Book

Ever read a book that threatens the way you relate to the world? I'm guessing and hoping that most of you have. Well, I'm reading one that is a posing an imposing threat in such a way that I welcome it with mind wide open. Meet Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea.

Ahhhhh, I love when math meets other things! I'm bad at math...but I love learning about its unexpected cool relations to other fields.

Me too! I'll never be a "math person" but I definitely enjoy the connections of math theories to other things/fields. =)

we saw a guy at the folklife festival in seattle playing a similar instrument: it was just a base with a thin neck and one string. i might go so far as to say it was the most beautiful sound i had ever heard. and even more interestingly, niko told me that this instrument pre-dates the drum.

i should probably check this book out, huh.

Wow, an instrument that pre-dates the drum? For some reason I thought the drum would have been the first...

It's a good book and I'd definitely recommend it to you. It gets a little mathy, but it's worth it.
