They had been waiting for this day since he was born. With such powerful parents, it was bound to happen sooner or later, and considering that Elle herself had manifested at six years old, they had both banked on Noah manifesting at a younger age.

They had been right to do so. He was four years old when Elle noticed it. He was on the floor, wrestling with their cat, Pureblood, when it happened.

“Kitty’s face go bye bye!”

Suddenly, the tabby kitten had no discernable face anymore. Elle frowned and approached her son carefully. She has seen some odd things in her time, especially being married to the serial killer formerly known as Sylar, but this had to have been one of the strangest she has ever encountered.

“Noah,” She cooed carefully, approaching her little boy. “Noah, what have you done with the kitty’s face?”

“I made it go bye bye!” He cheered with a smile, clapping his hands.

“Made it go…bye bye?” Elle frowned. She had seen some strange powers back when she worked as a Company Girl, but this had to be one of the weirdest she had ever seen. But man, was it funny to watch their cat run around, howling (how did it do that without a mouth? Elle had no idea) and running into walls. Soon enough, Elle had her arms wrapped around her son and the two were laughing their heads off.

They were so caught up in their own amusement that they didn’t even hear Gabriel come into the room, clearing his throat. “What are you two laughing about?” He frowned a little. “And why is our cat running around like it’s having a seizure?”

Neither Elle nor Noah said anything in response. Instead, Elle leaned in to whisper into her son’s ear, causing him to giggle and clap. He clambered out of his mother’s arms and toddled over to Gabriel, hugging his legs. That was Noah’s way of saying he wanted to be picked up.

Gabriel picked up his son, cradling him in his arms. “What is it, buddy?” He asked with a smile.

Noah just laughed more before he placed his hands on his father’s face. “Daddy’s face go bye bye now!”

As his face began to shift weirdly, all Gabriel could hear in the background was Elle howling with laughter. Some supportive wife he had!

“…What just happened?” He couldn’t see, but he could hear his glasses drop to the ground and shatter. And he could talk. How could he talk without a mouth?

A mystery, to be certain.

Elle was wiping the tears away from her face, trying to catch her breath from laughing before she tried to explain what was going on. “Noah….Noah manifested today!”

Oh, if Gabriel had any eyebrows left, he would totally be arching one right now. “He took my face away? And the cat’s? That’s his power?” Well, at least he wouldn’t have to worry about wanting to take this one from his son, he supposed. There was at least that small comfort. “Can he give them back?”

Elle blinked a little at his question. “I don’t know,” she answered with a simple shrug of her shoulders. She looked up at Noah who was still clinging to his father and giggling. “Can you give it back, baby?”

“Don’t want to, Daddy looks funny this way! Funny daddy! Funny kitty!”

Elle giggled in agreement. She was definitely enjoying this just a little too much. “Yes, Noah, it’s very funny, but who will go to work if Daddy can’t see? Don’t you want money for toys and candy and things like that?” Okay, so Gabriel could turn just about anything into gold, which made going to work to make money an obsolete necessity, but Noah didn’t need to know about that detail for now.

“I want candy! And toys!” Noah’s lips pouted a bit. “I want, I want!”

“Well then,” Elle chided in a serious tone, though her amusement was still clearly there. “You better give Daddy his face back, so he can give you all those other things back.”

“Okay, okay!” Noah placed his hand on his father’s head once more. “Hi face!” and when he removed it, there was Gabriel’s disapproving expression staring at him. He set his son down on the floor. “Give the cat back its face now.”

Poor Pureblood had run into the wall one too many times and was curled up next to Elle now.

Noah pouted again. “Do I hafta?”

“You do.”

The small boy toddled over to the cat and placed his hand on it. “Hi face!” and when he removed it, Pureblood twitched its newly returned whiskers before dashing off, getting as far away from Noah as it possible could. Noah giggled and chased after it, out of the room.

Gabriel just sighed in frustration as he looked over at Elle. “What kind of power is that anyways? Have you ever seen something like that before?”

Elle giggled, a mischievous grin o n her lips as she got up, making her way over to her husband now. “Come on, it’s a pretty amusing little gift, at the very least.”

Gabriel rolled his eyes. “You’re just saying that because you’re not the one whose face got removed.”

She shrugged her shoulders a little. “That’s probably true. But it was still funny. Especially when he did it to Pureblood. She just kept running into wall after wall, it was hilarious!”

He couldn’t help but grin a little in spite of himself. “Okay. I suppose that was a little funny to watch. Do you think that’s all he’ll be able to do, or do you think it’ll develop into something else as he gets bigger?”

“No idea,” She chirped, wrapping her arms around him now. “For all you know, maybe by the time he’s our age, he’ll be able to make whole people disappear!”
Gabriel frowned. “Don’t sound so happy about the idea.”

“But think about it. He could just go up to the evils of the world and make them disappear!”

“I thought we were the evils of the world,” Gabriel pointed out in a matter of fact tone.
Elle just waved her hand dismissively. “Details, details.”

Gabriel laughed and kissed the top of her head. “Let’s go find him before he tortures our poor cat anymore.”

“Fine. But really, Gabriel, you need to learn to let him have some fun.”

“Noted.”
