Yes. The lack of agency in Sam's hair this season has been very noticeable. I am also concerned he hasn't been allowed the freedom to choose which conditioner to use.

Especially when you begin to suspect that Gadreel's conditioners may not have been healing Sam's broken ends at all, but merely pursuing their own sinister goals.

Oh yes indeed. And now that I think about it Sam was probably sold a dud bottle of conditioner (though I'm sure Dean somehow persuaded Sam to buy it). It promised lustre and renewed strength but instead it created hair that is probably driving Sam nuts.

I think Sam needs a new hair consultant.

OMG as someone who has written up meta discussion on Sam's hair from season 1 on (actually I have to update them badly), I LOVE this!!

Seriously, this is exactly what I've been thinking. I've been so sad seeing Sam's hair so apparently full of goop and helmety most of this season so far. :( Like it's gone back to it's season 7 superglue state. But it makes total sense - Gadreel either slipping him some really bad conditioner or even sabotaging his usual stuff with superglue. Kind of like I believe Hallucifer had something to do with the nearly identical hair (except for the sideburns of course) of season 7. *nods*

I worship you for this thought-provoking meta. Clearly you would have a lot to contribute to the free-for-all posts over at spn_bunker, which somehow frequently devolve into discussions about Sam's hair, and I concur, IT SUCKS THIS SEASON. I've seen it hilariously bouffant, but then it always seems to end up flat and lifeless, no in between.

Plus, I LOVE that second gif. I've never seen him look so unapologetically snotty. And your icon. And now (after checking out your journal) I'm wondering how it is that I've never added you as a friend. Is it okay if I do? :-D

I know! What's with that. I think he's Sam's inner self trying to break free than that angel decides he wants it FLAT! Lucky he hasn't cut it all off (*dies* at the thought)

Damn I nearly missed this discussion. I can't understand why people are getting so hot under the collar about possession and consent issues and have missed this vitally important hirsute issue. After all, Sam's hair and sideburns are characters in their own right and deserve in depth consideration.
