Pet Sounds was an extremely influential album from the Beach Boys. Starting at about 2:20 that song starts to sound SO MUCH like the Beach Boys album--harmonies, whoo-oohs, lots and lots of layered vocal tracks forming the melody with guitars and synths doing nothing but helping out the percussion in the background--you can't really call it "ripoff", because this band (besides being so indie it hurts) actually has some original, worthwhile music and it's just the latter half of this song that screams "BEACH BOYS". I guess this is "homage".
Think "Sloop John B" or "Good Vibrations" for what I mean by Pet Sounds. Good Vibrations wasn't on Pet Sounds but everybody seems to think it is, it's a good example of the sound, and I'm sure you're familiar with it :)
