In which I attempt to discuss everything that happened in Half-Blood Prince

Jul 17, 2009 04:48

I've seen the HBP movie twice now, so I feel like I've absorbed enough to come up with a fairly reasonable review that goes beyond just my initial reactions. The first night, I went to a midnight showing, fully decked out in Hogwarts garb and I had a really great time! While we were seated in the theater waiting for the movie to start, some girl ( Read more... )

Apparently I didn't even need to discuss it with you. This is like a transcript of our entire conversation about the movie.

And I don't care what you say I loved Cormac's big huge broom stick cock.

Yeah I know but I had to get it all out. And I gave you credit for the things you said!

I just threw up in my mouth a little. :\

Yes, Olivander was very good! It showed how scary and dangerous the DE's are, while still giving an important bit of foreshadowing. And OMG I didn't notice Dumbledore realized Harry was a horcrux!!! When was that!?

Yes, I agree about what they were trying to show with the friendship between Dumbledore and Harry. And I really wouldn't have minded, because it is an important part of the story, but it just took up so much time that could have otherwise been filled with plot. :\

(On the subject of PoA...OMG YES! That's SO important!)

My friend's sister hadn't read the books and she also thought that Dumbledore hadn't really died. She thought that maybe he had turned into the phoenix at the end or something. Unfortunately, no. And ugh that's so annoying! (The person with the sign!) It's one thing for me to post it in my LJ where I pretty much know that everyone on my flist has either read the books already or doesn't care. To do it in a theater before the movie starts is just fucked up.

Yeah, I mean I love HP so much and I'm glad that the movies are getting even more people interested in it, although they will NEVER achieve the amazingly wonderful complexities and general awesomeness of the books. So I do kind of judge people for not wanting to experience how much cooler the book are. When we left the theater the first night, we overheard some girl go "OMG I can't wait to find out what happens!!" Um, you can find out what happens. It's all written down in a book called The Deathly Hallows. :\

OOOH YEAH! That's such a good point! I didn't even notice it! I mean I def thought that the ring twitching and the flashes that Harry had were indications of his...horcrux-ness, but I didn't even think that Dumbledore's statement might have had another meaning! I'll look out for it when I see it again (which I'm sure I will.) And you're right - that is a cool little addition.

Hey no worries. Honestly I don't think I'm really ever going to be updating anymore. LiveJournal has kind of taken a permanent back seat, but thank you! :)

Hey! Yes, it's me! :) Obviously I haven't updated in a very long time. But I will add you as a friend, and I'm hoping to be more active on here because I met a lot of people at Ascendio who are also on LJ.
