yoga research

Now that we're getting settled in our new town, it's time to do some research on yoga studios nearby, and see first of all if there's anywhere I'd like to start practicing and secondly if there's anywhere that seems good for a teacher training.

The amazingly wonderful F gave me a gift certificate for a 5-class card at Maitri Yoga (Read more... )

Well, I'm starting the process. I want to go and actually do yoga at all these places, so I can get a sense of the people who teach there, the kind of yoga they do, the atmosphere, etc. And I want to get a sense of what the commute is like. Teacher trainings are so expensive, and such a time commitment--I want to be sure that I want to spend all that time there, you know?

Plus, getting a sense of the schedules for the different trainings will help me plan ahead. With the wedding and honeymoon, I don't think I can do a training 2009-10, but maybe 2010-11.

i want to take a yin teacher training so much! BBY offered one in march, but i didn't feel quite ready to do it since i had only started yin in february. but now that teacher has left the studio (he was *really* great too, sigh) so i don't know when there will be a local yin teacher training again. i feel like i missed my window! i really think you will like yin a lot when you have a chance to try it out.

i remember turning up other studios that seemed to be near your house before dann & i visited -- i think i used yelp.

BBY offers training through yogaworks (mostly an inyegar/vinyasa blend) and i'm thinking about doing it next summer if i can marshal my monetary forces. i've been told that most programs will put you on a payment plan for tuition, btw.

looks like you've done lots of good research already!!!

It seems like many places will give a discount for paying in full in advance, too. I've got the savings (right now, anyway, we'll see how the wedding goes) so I might choose that option.

Woo yoga!!
