Fall/winter events round-up

So, it's been a while. I definitely don't have time to maintain a journal online like I used to, and with giving myself the freedom not to post all my books, I also haven't been keeping up with event posts. But the thing about that is that I've got Goodreads for book tracking, but I genuinely use LJ/DW for capturing memories about events. So here's ( Read more... )

I am going to express my amusement at you feeling this is a compromise when I am reading is about you demanding of yourself you do a couple of "You" things such a yoga with adorable peeing goats (it does sound wonderful even with the goat pee) and you being hard on yourself for not getting out to a noon concert with a 40 minute walk more often, then on to you setting up a date with your hubby con sitter for Freya which was not exactly perfect this time but did leave much room for mutual snark and you taking Freya and friend and Mom out to see The Nutcracker but going to the one that has Freya's other friend from church that you went to for them but would not have chosen.

I'll spare you the rest . . .

I am teasing you, maybe not so gently, because it is my fervent hope and actual belief that one day you will look back on these things and realize how much you gave of yourself to do good to and in the world and to friends and to family.

You are such a good woman.

Goat yoga was really excellent! I think you'd love it. And the noon concert thing really is perfect because it's free, it's a way to see live music again (seriously lacking in recent years), and it's a long walk along the river which I love anyway so also double-duty for exercise. It is what it is, of course, and we certainly *had an experience*. We just have so little time to ourselves that it feels like every moment has to be wonderful in multiple ways. (I'm just proving your point, aren't I ( ... )

One of my favorite things about online talking and people blogging and sharing is how it allows us to engage in old fashioned letter writing. We can read and reread and then ponder what we have read. I'm big on pondering ( ... )

Goat yoga!!! All of these were really enjoyable to read about, but that one stood out.

As did this: the owner/brewer of Dogfish and a Penn professor talked about their collaboration to brew ancient ales based on analysis of remains scraped from the bottoms of ancient pottery.

So jealous--but so glad that you got to go to this. I've had some--the gal who draws SPQR Blues brought several flavors to MediaWest one year--and I drank it steadfastly even though I hate beer. Because ancient recipes!

Written on Skin sounds really cool, too.
