Saturday F and I went to IKEA. We love IKEA. It's so much fun. We came home with a new rug for the office, and new curtains, and a bunch of other things (most of which were actually on the list) and we have ideas and measurements for what we want in a new TV stand now. I love your description of the first act of R&J being as if they didn't know it was a tragedy yet. My shakespeare class in college had us spending three weeks working on individual scenes, and the prof gave an actual dating couple the balcony scene, which they rehearsed on a balcony on the outside of the theatre building. On the day of class, it was pouring rain, but they did it outside and were oblivious to the rain. It was beautiful. We decided that from now on, the balcony scene should be performed in a spring rain.

Also, I feel this must have come up before but - tragedy means a lot more than just "sad" and I often feel very alone in the point of view. Now I can say, "Rox would agree with me!"

And the problem with non-tragic sad things is that because it's so sad, it's inappropriate to correct the person who called it tragic! It would seem cold and unfeeling to be worrying about semantics when this horrible thing has happened. Next time, I'll say the appropriate sad things but I will think of you. :)
