Title: Before the Dawn (2 of 2) Author: paxwolf Claim No: 105 for rai_daydreamer Prompt: Hurt/comfort, Bruce caring for Clark and giving him a kiss. Rating: PG Word Count: 12,239
This story is so sweet! I love how Bruce was just taking care of him and how both of them slowly poured their heart to the other and then apologized only to have the other say "don't worry"
This was so wonderful! Poor Bruce...you tie him up in such complicated emotional knots here, knitted into a little ball of frustration and worry and longing:
He tried his best not to notice the long line of Superman's exposed throat as he tilted his head back, and the muscles as he swallowed, droplets from the bottle's neck trailing their way down the neck and down over the hollow of his throat and collarbone and down over the bare skin of his chest to disappear under the ragged edges of the torn uniform. He stood in place, riveted despite himself.
For all you put Clark through the wringer physically, you torment Bruce spiritually with perhaps greater deftness. :)
Superman kept his eyes closed, but the wry grin was visible again on his mouth. "Yes, sir, Doctor Wayne."
There was a sudden silence and Superman's eyes flew open as he realized what he had said.I love this exchange--the pause, the realization, the understated pain of it
( ... )
I LOVED this story! The setting was wonderful: a wounded Clark and Bruce saving his life and taking care of him, both alone, isolated and living a moment that seemed to be suspended in time. It was lyrical an touching and powerful and the writing was awesome! *Saves to hard drive for re-readings*
I too hope there's a sequel. I definitely would love to read it.
