Title: Before the Dawn (1 of 2) Author: paxwolf Claim No: 105 for rai_daydreamer Prompt: Hurt/comfort, Bruce caring for Clark and giving him a kiss. Rating: PG Word Count: 12,239
I'm going to comment here before commenting on the other part just to say: Pax, you hot wolf you! You write such delicious UST-y attraction, and Bruce trying to keep his hands from wandering and failing is just delightful. And the way you write the awakening of realization in Bruce is electrifyingly powerful, so intense.
The beginning should remind everyone why you are the undisputed world champ Kal-hurter in the fandom. :) *hands Pax a Kryptonite tiara* The attention to detail, the physical agony Clark endures and the mental agony Bruce endures watching him, right down to the horrific scene removing the knife, where Bruce has to actually inflict more pain on him...whew.
I agree with Jen! Stunning first part. Before slash, there was hurt/comfort, and a fine genre it is, too! :) A Kryptonite tiara? Wow, that's fascinating imagery! :)
Not only do I love your h/c, pax, but I just love the way you write the fight scenes. So much realism and attention to details--it's like watching a movie, but in paper. LOL
I really felt Batman's distress here: to have an injured Superman, knowing the enemy could be back any moment, and have so little he could do to ameliorate the situation.
I loved the part where Batman was indulging himself with Clark. Of course he was appalled to be doing it but it just underscored how he was so worried, and how his feelings were escalating.
Anyway, this is the best h/c I've read in ages. Just a schooling on the genre. Kudos, pax.
Wow. Pax. Wow. First, the fight scene is wonderful. The frenetic pace and Batman's frustration and panic and calm in the face of that frustration and panic is so wonderfully expressed here.
Then we move on to a cave! Go, go Cave Fic!
Your pacing at the end is so incredible. Frustration and joy and control battling each other for supremacy!
