Sandra Day O'Connor retires?!Now, I expect Rhenquist; we all did. But this is bad. O'Connor has traditionally been a swing vote, leaning liberal. i don't know how moderate or extreme his pick would be, but i'm guessing it'll be a woman. hopefully not someone like katherine harris. *shudder*

I am afraid that a Bush appointee will try to deny me of rights
*laughs* I'm terrified that a Bush appointee will mean many MANY rights that I find important being infringed. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the 2004 elected could very well have decided if Roe v. Wade gets overturned. Not to mention sep of church and state, freedom of speech, gay rights, and all sorts of other stuff. That's a crapload of things that I think we're very close to losing on all 'cause Bush got elected. This would be why Bush is responsible for me beginning to drink underage...

Actually, Scalia is generally regarded, by friend and foe alike, to be one of the smartist jurists alive. He's still inconsistent and usually wrong, though ( ... )
