Nanao stood, hefting her own books in her arms. She looked more like a student embroiled in studies than a teacher, with her arms full of books on earth. She made her way across the lobby to return the books to their rightful places when a stray book hit her arm. Then another hit her pile of books and she immediately dropped them all and sprung back from the avalanche of books.

She stayed back until she was sure the last book had fallen. Nanao adjusted her glasses and stared up at the third floor stairs. A girl was sitting on the stairs, apparently in some pain. She delicately stepped over the mess and looked straight up at her.

"You're alright? Because if you are, there is a large pile of books to be picked up." Nanao rubbed her arm and frowned. It was going to bruise, "If you aren't, I can call the nurse."

Shinichi let out a pitiful whimper at the sound of the voice, and struggled to a more upright position, wincing as she/he pressed against a sore patch. He peered through the railings at the lobby below, wincing instinctively as he saw the pile of books on the floor, and the woman close to them. Wasn't she his mathematics teacher?

"Sorry!" he all but yelped as he saw the mess, clambering to his feet and hanging onto the banister as he peered down at it all, hands white-knuckled on the railing to make sure he didn't fall again. He hadn't hit her, had he? "I'll be down in a minute..." he said doubtfully, his tone of voice conveying his unsurety of being able to make it down safely.

Nanao watched her, and if she recalled correctly the girl was actually a boy, descend the stairs. Once she/he was safely on the last flight of steps, Nanao knelt to sort out the books. Her earth books went safely in one pile and what she could only assume was the entire shapeshifting section of the library went in another.

"They have baskets to put books in by the stairs at each level." She commented, more as if she was addressing the air than a person on the stairs, and straightened her pile, "At least if you dropped that, it'd be one projectile to avoid instead a dozen." She pulled up her sleeve to inspect her arm. It would be fine. She just got lucky and was hit by the broad side of the book rather than a corner or an edge.

"I'm checking those out, actually," said Shinchi, wincing slightly as she/he limped across the floor towards the teacher. He'd have some lovely bruises by tomorrow, and he'd probably -ow- pulled a muscle somewhere. He noticed the teacher checking her arm and grimaced, internally cursing himself for not being more careful.

"Ah, sorry, I hit you with a book?" He hovered uncertainly by his pile of books for a moment, then crouched down to pick them up, wobbling slightly before he righted himself and stood up quickly. He brushed his long hair back out of his face and offered the teacher a hesitant apologetic smile.
