It wasn't often that Mr Hitsugaya, damnit, actually mingled in any way, shape, or form. He found it hard to mix with his 'peers', being half the age or less of most of them, and his own age-group...well, they were just plain silly. He couldn't relate to them. Most of the time he didn't even want to.

Tonight, however, he'd found that he'd run out of coffee, which meant that he'd have to steal some of the school's (inferior) supply, which meant potentially having to make conversation or something with someone.

Toushirou sighed faintly and slouched into the cafeteria, hand scuffing through his prematurely silvered hair as he scowled around to see who he'd have to put up with to get his damn caffeine fix. Oh...Miss Ise. Nanao. Well, she was sensible. One of his better colleagues, that was for certain. If he had to make smalltalk, he'd druther it was with somebody like her. "Evening, Nanao. Smells good."

Nanao looked up and nodded, setting her tea down to gesture to a carry case full of smaller containers, "Evening, Hitsugaya. The tea or the curry? Either way I have more if you're interested. I'm afraid I made the full recipe which I can't eat in one sitting."

She knew the habits of her fellow teachers and she glanced at the coffee pot, "No one has made a new pot. There's hot water in the water heater if you want instant." Nanao went back to sipping her tea. Hitsugaya was a mystery for sure, but she had been that mature at his age as well. She wondered if it was as exhausting for him as it had been for her. At least she waited till she was 18 to take a up a teaching position.

"Oh...thanks, but I think I'll stick with coffee for now." People offering him stuff always made Toushirou a little uncomfortable. He wasn't used to what he still thought of as 'charity', and he didn't like the connotations it stirred up. He was no longer the runty orphan boy who'd had to scavenge a living in the poorer districts of his home city. He was an accomplished teacher, in total control of himself, and could take care of everything he needed all on his own.

Besides, he wasn't hungry anyway.

The coffee selection left much to be desired, but it was poor manners to look a gift horse in the mouth. The young teen, scowled at his options before selecting a blend that would present the least affront to his tastebuds and set it to brew. His slouching back pressed to the counter. At least he didn't have to get a chair to reach the coffee pot - that would have been mortifying. "Finished for the day, huh?"
