Heh, well, nowhere is as thrilling to walk around as New York. I don't think you have to worry about being in a small town--it is a college town, after all, and there's loads of stuff to do and people to talk to. I grew up in a big city, and I live in one now, but even I don't think I'd feel like a place is too insular unless it's the kind of place with big farmhouses and people who only go into town once a week and the rest of the time only see their families ( ... )

Sounds like a great trip!

I noted many similarities in my life and that of your cousin and it makes me realise what I must seem like to my younger cousins. I like that you frame it as 'grown up' and exciting and not 'old and boring' as I sometimes feel.

Also, I find it interesting that wikipedia lists vegemite under the 'see also' heading in the nutritional yeast entry. I'm very curious about that stuff, I'm going to look for it at my coop this afternoon. If you are curious about vegemite, let me know ;)

Hah, well, I did make fun of her a bit for going to bed early (around 10:30) as a symptom of getting old, but I was secretly relieved because I was tired too :) I don't think you're old and boring at all. In fact sometimes I read your entries and marvel at how you manage to do such exciting things (vacations, half-marathons, fine food and drink) and how fun it all sounds. I want a lifestyle like yours when I'm that age. Hell, I wouldn't mind having it now ( ... )

Ha! I can bet that, I go to bed at 9pm!! But I do get up at 5 everyday so I have a good excuse.

And no, vegemite is jet black and the texture of really smooth peanut. It tastes extremely salty, it certainly is an aquired taste.

(And I live in australia by the way, I just *wish* I lived in NZ)

Ack! Sorry about the momentary brainfart--I had NZ on the brain because I was thinking about your dazzling vacation there.

I'll have to stay on the lookout for my chance to finally experience that exotic delicacy. It sounds... interesting. I'm a big fan of peanut butter; I might end up converting.
