Wow-I can't believe a nurse thought haemophillia was sexually transitted, thats very scary. Haemophilliacs are high risk for blood bourne diseases due to the nature of their treatments, and the fact that they are likely to have had a transfusion at some point. I also agree it's a little worrying that there would be database or list kept of people with HIV. Surely the only possible need for this would be in medical records?
I know. This HIV register thing really scares me. I mean, as far as I know they're not doing anything with that list yet, but you never know when they'll decide The Public Has a Right to Know. There was a case recently where an HIV+ man spat at a police offer and was charged with assault with a deadly weapon or some such. Next thing, you'll get more jail time for robbing a drug store if you have big biceps. This would actually make more sense, since HIV isn't even transmissible through saliva (correct me if I'm wrong).
Maybe the nurse was just flustered because she wasn't used to people asking questions. I hope.
