Just a quick update from the land of migraines, heat & humidity…

Nov 23, 2006 00:06

Ouch. I hurt. It’s a bad one too, have been sick at my stomach and wasn’t able to even keep water down ‘til early this evening. Had to dash up to the chemist- I lied, it was more like a slow crawl- to get my prescriptions, was out of everything. Got home, took my tablets, took new heavy duty allergy pill and then went to sit outside while Jason ( Read more... )

I think the Poseidon reference is completely valid. :D

As for the migraine, glad you're feeling better. I find I see different 'colours' in the wind preceding a thunderstorm. Glen has always found it weird when I go 'there's silver and gold (or purple) in the wind, storm is coming.' That little knack or whatever it is, also means I can generally tell if it's going to be a predominantly rainy storm, or an electrical storm. I have no idea why I can do this, maybe because I venerate Hrum - a thunder god?

And thank the gods it isn't migraines. Yikers. Migraines and ants to predict the weather - I can believe the ants thing, they swarm here before a Summer storm. Maybe because of a difference in the air pressure or something.

That is so cool about seeing colours on the wind! Maybe it is a form of synesthesia. On an e-group I belong to there was a lengthy discussion about that and about how so many people with that gift are involved in esoteric matters. And art- if I am not mistaken many artists in all differnt mediums (sound, visual, etc.) have synesthesia to some extent.

(I can't "see" music or "hear" colour, but I can tell what colour an M&M is just by taste whilst wearing a blindfolded !)

That ant thing- such a great indicator. :-) They should fire all those goofy weather folks on TV and just set up an ant cam!

Thank you! I'd love to see the power point presentation. Would it be something I could use at the lecture? Properly credited of course. :-)

You don't kow how much I appreciate this. The lecture is going to be very helpful as the fluff level is pretty high here. We have some folks locally who claim to be Asatruar but talk about things like being "initiated by dragons into the dragon/human council on relations." :-/ (Then again, maybe this is so, but something seems a bit off, if you get my drift.) They also claim to be in the IOT but I know for a fact they are not- some of my old lodge brothers/covenmates/initiates are IOT and don't know them.

I will contact you very soon and thanks again!

Just butting in to say:

Gliders need lots of calcium, they can die of deficiency. I'm careful with not letting them get too full on mealworms lest they neglect the calcium-fortified food we make them. Wanna recipe, btw?

I'm impressed that you've got a *wild glider* only giving you warning nips. Those little guys can take forever to tame, but they're so smart they know it if someone saves their life and are forever grateful.

leadbeater's recipe layo November 25 2006, 20:25:30 UTC
1 cup apple juice
1 tsp rep-cal herptivite (blue label) (no phosphorus)
2 tsp calcium
1/2 cup multigrain baby cereal
1/3 cup wheat germ
1 overripe banana
1/3 cup canned yams
1 quarter of 14-oz container of tofu
1 chicken or turkey jar of baby food (w/sweet potatoes or yam sometimes, no spices)
1 boiled egg
1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp acacia powder (optional) (add this last, it really thickens it up!)

We put the ingredients in the blender in this order, and blend between each ingredient to make sure it's consistently mixed. Hope your little guy is doing well and your head is feeling better.

Thank you! I am going to have to give that recipe a try. :-)

Priscilla is doing alright- the eye looks better. Not perfect, but the swelling is going down and it is not as oozy and ugly looking. She takes her antibiotics like a good girl and eats like a little trooper.

You are right when you say gliders are smart; Pris definitely knows that I am trying to help her and is very nice about it. It can't be pleasant having that medication smeared in her eyes, but she seems to understand that it is for her benefit so she puts up with it and is good natured. I think she also likes the fact that she has food delivered anytime she opens her cute little mouth to make her particular growl! (These animals have really got my number- they know a good situation when they find it. ;-) Even wild birds come to my house for treats!)
