Ask!

The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about one another. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Okay, I'll bite.
I have a feeling that you've mentioned this and I either missed it or have forgotten, and I also have a feeling it's hardly an original question, but here goes.

How'd you end up in Australia anyway? What keeps you there, and not bouncing to some other random place on the globe?

Good question! :-)

I fell in love with and married an Australian. When our marriage ended I considered going back to the US, but it felt like too much of a defeat-- I'd given up almost everything I owned to move here. so I elected to stay rather than give up everything again: my birds, the wonderful weather, the sense of freedom I have on being on my own & strong, etc.

Oh, and I couldn't bear living in that Phoenix heat again, LOL,I am ruined for hot weather now. :-)

As for staying here, hmmm. Right now I am working on something for the next few years, and of course finances are a big consideration. But I think that later on I may end up in the UK for a bit (Wales or Cornwall), maybe NZ for a while, then maybe back to the states (New York City or San Francisco) or even Mexico for my "retirement years".

I fell in love with & married an Australian. We were originally going to stay in the US, but he had stuff to wrap up here, and then it just worked out that finacially we HAD to stay here due to his stuff.

The funny thing was that I'd never-- before coming here-- had any concious desire to even visit Australia. I always knew I'd live for a long time ouside the US but I thought I'd be in Mexico or Israel.

Funny how life works out, hey? :)

How would you condense the major events in your life over the past ten years into point format?

* Getting back on my feet after car accient, including career change from fashion world to vet nursing, and getting my heart broken. (1999-2000)

* A marriage comes to town! Met my hubby, was married & living in a foreign country within 3 months; devastated by events of Sept 11. (2001)

* Baffled by life down undah, marital bliss, lots of hard work in magick, reuniting with my son (2002-2003)

* Heart broken, abandoned, alone... but for my gods. And about a zillion birds.(2004)

* I enter & come out of the dark night of the soul. My prize? I win ME! (2005-2006)

* Just start settling into Oz on my own, then comes Pakistan and the round the world trip. Makes me re-evaluate my life in material ways. (2007-2008)

* Putting new plan in action to changemy future, enjoying single life. Discovering that what I thought I wanted or needed isn't what I need or want. Need and want NEW things.(2009)

I was worked for retail bridal shops (including one really huge national chain), and my job was PR and organising fashion shows for bridal-wear, prom-wear and things like that. I also did wedding coordination, and was part of managment at one store. I really miss the bridal business.
