Oh, but I do like this. Very much. I like Jayne's calm, quiet response; it shows understanding and consideration at a level of which people sometimes assume he's incapable. Other writers have shown Jayne's unique understanding of River's "weapon-ness," but I've never seen it done like this.

And I like it.

This is nicely different from most of what I've read -- Simon and Jayne having a rational conversation about River -- and the realizations. A sequel would be great!
