Oh, God, this is marvellous... Tokitoh is SO well done and Kubota's longing is palpable. I love the bits where he's trying to reassure himself. And, yes, he absolutely deserves a medal.
Thank you! I really love these characters and I really wanted the story to be about them, told through the medium of sex, rather than a PWP.
Ketty-corner is US vernacular for diagonally. Kitty-corner is the more common spelling, ketty-corner is a variant, and less well known, but kitty-corner made a terrible pun, so ketty-corner it is (also ketty-corner is the variant I grew up with).
I don't think you would ever write a PWP, in the sense that the tag is sometimes used, even if you tried (not that I'm down on PWP, they're not easy to write and sometimes they are the best characterised fics if only because the author has zero time to establish them before the sex!) But you always write such deep, sophisticated work with a unique cadence that catches me every time.
Thanks for explaining ketty corner. I thought it might mean diagonal!
Aw, thanks. Characterization is key to an enjoyable PWP, for me, and I imagine it would be very hard to capture it well in such a short form (now am intrigued to try).
I'm wondering now if I should change the "ketty-corner" to "diagonally" to make it clearer. I've used "ketty-corner" before in GWYM, but there it was an appropriate Midwestern regionalism. I'll have to look it over in the morning,as it's after midnight here and I have no business being awake (and need to take Athena to Hebrew School in the morning!).
