One of the major problems I see with people who learn Carnatic is their confusion about "absolute pitch" in Western and hence the lack of enthusiasm or motivation to try out 'chords'. So I wrote this
Chords Search with Carnatic Notations.

some chords theory classes, western notation vs carnatic notation and... some rants )

I have a few questions regarding Aahiri and wonder if you or anyone else here can clarify.
1) I have often heard people say that Aahiri has all the swarasthanams in it except Prati Madhyamam. I believe this is why Deekshithar chose Aahiri for the 9th Avarana Krithi 'Sri Kamalamba Jayati'- to symbolically represent the merging of all duality. How exactly does it carry all the Swarasthanams? Very clearly it has only 'Antara Gandharam' (G3) and Suddha rishabham (R1). Is it a Bhashanga Ragam, where there are occasional uses of Chathushruti Rishabham/Suddha Gandharam (R2/G1) and Shatshruthi Rishabham/Sadharana Gandharam (R3/G2)? Or is it because of the fact that when you play it on a stringed instrument like veena or violin, you actually produce the Gandharam by pulling the Shadja Sthana or Rishabha Sthana? So, in a way, the gandharam is inseperable from these two notes?
2) Why is Aahiri a derivative of Hanumathodi? Antara Gandharam is nowhere used in Thodi. What is used is Suddha Gandharam.
