She was surprised by his desire to hold her close after sex. The majority of men she had been with were appreciative, but busy- once finished, they'd gotten up, dressed and out within five minutes. Sark kept her pressed to his chest, fingertips skimming up and down her back, carelessly complimenting her features. This is not at all what she had expected from him- she had imagined him dark and dangerous and exciting.

When Sydney started at SD-6, Sloane had been careful. He didn't want to overwhelm her with attention all at once- he made her earn his praise, earn the proud pats on the shoulder and the kind smiles. Sydney had blossomed under his guidance, as he knew she would, until he knew that she would do whatever he asked.

Jack met Emily on the national mall, her hair a crown of gold and eyes soft and beautiful. She's witty and charming, and he is interested enough to take her out twice. The first meal is at a small bistro, where the conversation goes as well as he could hope, but buoyed by the tinkle of her laughter. The second is a double date with Arvin and his latest girlfriend.
