So I was supposed to go online last night in Hendersonville, but I had to go buy a new camera cause mine got ruined when Ellen put an open water bottle in my purse and everything got soaked, so. I am now in Stephen's City, Virginia in a Holiday Inn with blessed, blessed internet ( Read more... )

Going anywhere near Charlottesville?

OMG, I totally learned how to crochet this very week as well! I am halfway through a scarf, but ran out of wool. I can sort-of knit, too, but only easy stuff, so I'm going on a wool-buying expedition tomorrow to make a hat and a cushion. It gets compulsive very fast. Great for road trips. :D I love that we are both doing it!

And a belated congrats on the apartment, too... I was AWOL for a few days. I'll have to come back for another visit to UF!

And for that matter, as I ask every summer: going anywhere near CT? ;-)

Sadly, no. Stephens City is on the opposite side of the state, right by the border to West Virginia, and I don't think we'll be going near CT this summer. :(

I've started on my second scarf! I was going to work on it in the car today but Mom was very paranoid about missing/misreading signs, so as the navigator I was required to pay attention and not crochet.

The apt should be pretty awesome. You're more than invited to come see it!

Did you go up I-81? You would only have been half an hour from Charlottesville when you went through Staunton.

I'm beginning to get good at crocheting and watching TV, so I'm sure you could manage to follow road signs at the same time.

... what are you going to do with two scarves in Miami? You'll have to come see me again to wear them! :D

Asheville! I have family over there, so we had a family reunion near there. I love it. And the Biltmore Estate is insane. So, so pretty. We had an acquaintance/family member who was somehow involved with it, so we got in for free. It was rad.

Congrats on the crocheting too! It's an awesome skill to have. I have lots of hand-made scarves; much cheaper than buying them.

We had no idea the Biltmore estate even existed, so we were very pleasantly surprised. And it's awesome that you got in for free, cause it's hella expensive. But so worth it, egads.

That's where my internet Mommy is from! Hendersonville! She goes to school at UNC Asheville, though. How funny that you're there.

Hope the rest of the trip goes well!

So are the Hoppes on vacation up there?

Yeah, they had a really nice condo/cabiny thing in Hendersonville.

So far the trip has been really nice! And NC was absolutely lovely. I'd love to go back there. I had to text Chels because we went through Boone, because her mom went to college there and I kept thinking of her. I miss you guys!

My parents visited the Biltmore Estate when they were in Tennessee last year - they said it was just incredible.

Be careful with the crocheting, it sneaks up on you and gets all addicting and before you know it you're in the middle of three afghans at once...

It's absolutely amazing!

I really am into it, but i tried to make a scarf going width-wise instead of length-wise and the edges keep curling up so it looks like a yarmulke instead. It's challenging.
