(Also, I totally took Philosophy last year, and I already cannot remember Thomas Aquinas. Like, I recognize the name and all, and realize that he was real good with the sucking-up-to-God thing, but beyond that? Nada.)
*squeezy hugs back* My biggest problem is that we were assigned like, 100 pages to read on Plato (no lie) and... 20 on Aquinas. So even if I liked Aquinas and what he was saying, there's still such a difference in the amount of material to work with. sigh.
Plato is all, let me tell you a story, complete with characters! And Aquinas is like, I will use flowery language to make everything take five times longer than it needs to; also, GOD. GODDITY GOD GOD GOD. Which, yes, thank you, I got it.
My favorite is Machiavelli, to be honest, so who's Not Quite Right now?
To liven your studying up somewhat, I thought I'd share this quote by Thomas More, one of 16th century England's most eminent scholars. He's writing on behalf of Henry VIII against Martin Luther. My professor gave it to us in class today... I swear, it's legit:
""For as long as your reverend paternity will be determined to tell these shameless lies, others will be permitted, on behalf of his English majesty [Henry VIII] to throw back into your paternity's shitty mouth, truly the shit-pool of all shit, all the muck and shit which your damnable rottenness has vomited up, and to empty out all the sewers and privies onto your crown."
So when you get the Luther, at least if you hate him, you'll be in good company. :D
