Ten years ago it was the presence of two forgotten beer bottles that should have told the story but the ominous absence of his own glass still smelling of last night’s scotch was completely lost on her oblivious husband. The mocking closeness of two half-empty wine glasses - why were they abandoned? - is not lost on Helen now, and the jealous woman she always knew she was but never would have expected to care even in the least about him makes her question Becker with not quite as much nonchalance as she intended.
