LOL Well all right, I was going to keep up with the wedding pictures from the entire month of July, but so many of you gave me the impression that you had the impression that I was leading up to yesterday's post that I'm guessing I should knock it off there. For what it's worth, our icing was fondant, and when it thawed, it slid right off the cake. I shit you not. It was pretty hysterical.

However, my sister baked the cake, and even after a year, it was moist and yummy. (And I hate frosting, so it all worked out for the best.)

One of my friends here forgot to eat her wedding cake on her first anniversary and has held on to it in the freezer ever since. She was married in the 1960's. Yes, she honestly has wedding cake that is more than 40 years old. I had them show it to me once.

I've heard of bakeries where instead of saving the top, they give you a coupon for a new mini-cake on your first anniversary. It seems like a good idea.

Good God. What is she saving it for? Her 50th? I'd be afraid it might develop sentience...

That would be a wonderful idea. To be fair, our wedding cake didn't come from an independent bakery, it was part of the package we got with the venue, but it's still a great idea.
