There’s talk about breaking off relationships that are toxic between friends, partners, spouses, parents, siblings, co-workers and any other type of relationship that you could think of. You are not alone. If you're not going to therapy, you should consider it. I believe that the fact that you've written this out so clearly and concisely and without excuses means you're ready to be heard. You're ready to make a change.

I've thought about it, but haven't quite got there for myself. I guess I just haven't had that "event" that has pushed me to it.

This is a super difficult situation. And while it's not unheard of, it's definitely not the first thought when it comes to toxic relationships *sigh* I've never been in that situation, but I definitely feel for you.

I am so, so sorry for you. This is truly an impossible situation. You can't move him out, but you can't let him stay. I hope you are able to do not only what is best for your son but what is best for you.
