An integrated-curriculum unit on an Agatha Christie story has all sorts of great educational possibilities, as this page shows. However, I am not convinced of the wisdom of this particular suggestion:

In Industrial Arts a student can make a “stiletto.”

Clearly, this project is not for zero-tolerance schools.

It also sounds like the setup to a mystery: enthusiastic young teacher has kids make stilettos, teacher is soon found in office stabbed with a stiletto, student detective takes up the case...

...and then, knowing midddle schoolers, it turns out that a) the teacher faked the death, hoping to inspire students to work together at a cozy detective mystery and figuring they wouldn't believe that was real blood, and b) the teacher ended up with Lord of the Flies instead.

Either that, or it's an attempt to get away with murder by creating an entire class of suspects!
