The War on Drugs is a Waste

I watched part of a documentary the other day which most of you might be familiar with called "Grass," about the origins of the war on drugs in the US. It was awful to watch. So much expense, and people being put away for DECADES, because of simple drug possession. So expensive, such a waste...of resources, money, and the potential of people.

Would you like to do something on the 12th or 13th of April? I'm planning to come up to Bellingham Saturday night and most on Sunday. I was thinking we could go to Tokyo house or something like that.

I'm going to be in Eastern Washington this weekend for a political thing. But Marci might be in town, and then you could meet Felix.

I think that Nixon cam before Carter. I think...

Also, have you ever seen that picture where Elvis and Richard Nixon are shaking hands? Apparently, Elvis wrote Nixon a letter praising the war on drugs and they ended up meeting.

I think that is how the story went.

"Apparently, Elvis wrote Nixon a letter praising the war on drugs and they ended up meeting."

somehow considering Elvis' demise, and his rock star career, I can only find that amusing.

The war on drugs IS horrible. I wonder though, if we'll actually see any progressive change during our lifetimes? How long does it take I wonder for the ideas of our older generations to fade out and die?

an even scarier thought, what will our grandchildren think about us.. what kind of narrow-minded laws/policies will we think up for them to rebel against?
