I've loved reading all of your reactions to this book that, I admit, I'm more interested in reading about than actually reading for myself! I feel like the problem with a lot of people who have written bestselling books is that they've written bestselling books, which sort of ties into your valid-sounding late-bloomer idea.

Also, your description of the first chapter of the book makes me wonder what on earth is supposed to fill the other x-number of chapters. It's just her behaving the same way for 200+ pages? That sounds really boring. Memoirs are the worst.

Did you read the cover story in this week's New York Magazine? I'm half-way through it. It's a little disorganized, but interesting.
