Warren abruptly emerged from the basement, with what looked like a pump-action baseball bat. "Hey -- what's up?"

Jonathan showed up at the door, looking cheerful and carrying some brownies.

"My mom think we're playing D&D," he explained. "So she sent us some munchies... hey, is that the new guy?"

Lizzie arrived a few minutes later and hugged Warren when she stepped in. She noticed that not everyone was there yet, so she wasn't late. That was good.

"How's it going?" she said, waving to those who were present.

Andrew came in and waved hello to everyone. "So, this is the guy you were talking about?" Andrew was still a little wary of letting a vampire into the group.

Devon looked at all the people gathering, and for the first time, thought that maybe, just maybe, this whole thing perhaps COULD make a difference.

"Hey, Warren... while we're waiting on everyone to show... I had a few ideas to run past you about some vamp-fighting equipment for me."

"Go for it," Warren said, putting the bat aside for the moment.

"Alright... I've been thinking of this for a while, but you would know, better than I, whether or not this is feasible."

Devon grinned and looked directly into Warren's eyes.

"Guns that fire some sort of wooden bullets. Imagine the sheer number I could take out at once if I had a set of guns that could actually dust them. And maybe even some sort of helmet and gloves that could block out sunlight, so that I could help more during the day."

"Two problems with wood," Warren said, holding up a pair of fingers. "Problem the one: it doesn't make for good bullet material. It's not particularly sturdy, and the shock of a high-caliber weapon would pretty much destroy it before it struck. Maybe if it were redwood... anyhow, problem the two, caliber size. Bearing in mind that the bigger the gun, the more likely it is to destroy the bullet, you'd probably be dealing with low-caliber weapons. Like, say, a pair of Uzis. That brings into play the second problem -- unless I'm failing vampirology, I think you have to not only penetrate the heart, but keep the wood embedded in it. Considering that bullets usually go through vampires like a prostitute through wallets, it's a little bit of hit or miss. Of course, a gyroc pistol with a wooden core and dum-dum body... something that penetrates, then detonates inside the victim to slow it down before it passes out the other side... that's a different story. Still, I use tools that launch flares as ammunition. It's high caliber, low velocity ( ... )

"Looks like the gang's all here, y'all!"

Gwen gave a wide, mischevious grin as she bounded in, leaning against the far wall.

"Welp... I'm here, the party can start now..."

"About time, wench," Warren said, chuckling. "What kept you so long? We've got some evil to destroy."
