I guess I must be weird (guess? HA!), but I had a completely different response to Cuckoo's Nest. I found it the most uplifting and triumphant story I'd ever seen! I was telling everyone I knew that it was wonderful and glorious and go see it, go see it, you MUST go see it! (I saw it at least seven times, myself. Seriously.) I was just flabbergasted when every single person said they hated it, it was awful and depressing, and how could I have seen anything so positive in it...?!?
Buh-buh-but.... but I could and I did and I still do. If you're interested, I'll try to explain my view. Though if it would just distress you, I won't. Let me know.
Kirk Douglas spent 20+ years trying to get that movie made, & he wanted that role so *badly*; then his son Michael was able to get it made, but had to tell his dad Jack Nicholson had the role. [I read his autobiography _The Ragman's Son_, which is excellent!]
When we were dating, our campus showed DWW. After seeing it myself, I made himself see it with me a couple of days later. Now, *that*'s love, seeing a 3+ hour chick flick in a campus theater with hard, cramped, old desk seating!

OFOTCC is very well done, but the subject matter is so ugly I can't watch (or read) it.

I guess I would like to know, but I'm sort of scared to ask. How's that for being torn?
