pro-feminist?

For some time now, I've ceased identifying as any sort of feminist. Laziness has much to do with this, as I benefit from male privilege rather often. Even when I don't, it is my habit to behave in ways that reinforce male privilege. I find it fascinating how many cis men, who would not even question their masculinity, do not seem to identify with other men. My husband is very cis, and lives a very heternormative life. He is tall and muscular, and has a rugged look to him. Yet, he immediately feels uncomfortable around men he does not know, and instinctively dislikes most men for "their misogynistic" ways. I also have a few other guy friends who are really very feminists, and in general have a very low opinion of other men. My experience really has been that there are many, many cis men out there who are compassionate, thoughtful, gentle, and lovely. But this is easy for me to experience because I'm a cis woman. I think men fear showing these quality to other men, because they feel they will be judged to be less then, or inadequate in some way. It is awful to witness how repressed men are, and how they have to be so careful to protect their masculinity, in fear of judgement from other men. Part of it is homophobia and the way people are trained to be hyper-straight ( ... )
